Cannabis and First Nations.
Six Manitoba First Nations entered into formal partnerships and investment arrangements with companies selected as provincial cannabis retailers. First Nations participation was a key criterion for choosing retailers in the initial Request for Proposals. The following First Nations will be among the first communities in Manitoba to have a non-medical retail cannabis store, opening on or after October 17, 2018:
- Waywayseecappo First Nation
- Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation
- Long Plain First Nation
- Opaskwayak Cree Nation
- Peguis First Nation
- Brokenhead Ojibway Nation
First Nations abide by the same the rules and licensing requirements that non-medical cannabis retailers do. First Nations interested in non-medical cannabis opportunities should contact INRweb@gov.mb.ca.
