- The Manitoba government launched the Support Manitoba. Buy Local. campaign to support our provincial economy and workforce by helping Manitobans discover local businesses, goods and services. Manitobans are encouraged to visit manitoba.ca/buylocal for information about businesses and services they can support to keep our economy strong and protect local jobs.
- The manitoba.ca/buylocal website currently features directories for various Manitoba businesses, services and organizations.
- On February 3, 2025, Canada and the U.S. reached an agreement to pause proposed tariffs on all Canadian exports for at least 30 days.
The Manitoba government has also paused its plan to stop the sale of American alcohol products during this period.
It remains unclear whether additional tariffs will be imposed following the 30-day pause. Manitobans can visit manitoba.ca/tariffresponse for more updates.
On February 11, 2025, the U.S. administration announced the reinstatement of a 25% tariff on steel imports, and a 25% tariff on aluminum imports, starting March 12, 2025.
- If U.S. tariffs are applied against Canadian exports, the Government of Canada intends to implement 25% retaliatory tariffs on select goods imported from the United States. - The next anticipated update from the U.S. administration regarding proposed tariffs is expected around March 4, 2025. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
